Mission Statement
Its that time of year again when Glapwell FC and its Junior teams put on their Santa suits and look at filling the Christmas stockings to support various organisations within the community.
This year is no exception and our elves have been out there collecting wish lists from our members to try and beat last years superb effort of raising over £750 with this years target being £1200.
Glapwell FC designated Christmas Presents for this year can be seen above.
Our aim this year is to beat last years target of £750 which helped the following Charities:
* Glapwell Educational Charity
* Stargazer appeal
* Ault Hucknall Church appeal
* William Derry Charity
* Bolsover Day Service
Speaking on behalf of the Football Club, Operations Director Kevin Gee quoted “Although Christmas is very much focused on the children of our village it also can bring adversity to our more senior members and this year is no exception. When approaching the various sectors to find out a priorities wish list the one that pulled on every ones heart strings was the potential that the luncheon club may lose all its subsidised funding from the Derbyshire County Council that helps and provides a meeting place for our community to meet for social or other reasons, providing teas and coffees and fund raising activities to provide a social fund to take our members away for the day.
We have therefore committed and pledged that we will provide our members with a Christmas party with our members assisting in serving once Claire whiting the centre manager has confirmed when the party will take place. Other benefactors will be to purchase new sports equipment for Glapwell Centre, support to the St Johns ambulance and finally subject to Bolsover District Council approval purchase seating , planters and a bird bath in the housing estate garden. However the wish list is by know means cast in stone and should anyone else feel that some organisation or individual may require our help please do not hesitate to contact the football club
